With a long history as a woman-owned business, Turtle & Hughes is committed to a diversified workforce. From our earliest years, as the country was struggling through the Great Depression, Ethel Macnamara Turtle, wife of our founder, Marion Berry Turtle, guided Turtle & Hughes through those tumultuous years out of a New York City brownstone. She was succeeded by her granddaughter, Suzanne T. Millard, whose leadership and foresight resulted in tremendous growth and diversification into several emerging businesses and technologies. Today, she remains a vital force within the company. Current CEO, Jayne Millard, continues a rich family tradition. Under her direction, we embrace the opportunity to create an environment where learning from each other, valuing our differences, and adhering to a culture of inclusion, effectively stimulate collaboration, improve decision-making, and increase innovation.

As a corporate mandate, THIS strongly supports several classifications of under-utilized businesses and diversity programs throughout North America. We are a certified Women-owned Business Enterprise (WBE). We work diligently to encourage women- and minority-owned businesses to participate in our operations as service and support providers and by affording competitive procurement opportunities. We are happy to provide a list of businesses we support upon request.

THIS is committed to doing business with environmentally responsible customers and suppliers. We work diligently with them to ensure that proper storage is taking place on-site, materials are recycled, and hazardous waste is serviced and disposed of according to State and Federal Law.

Energy conservation is also a key focus throughout our organization and we have proven to be an industry leader. Since 2007, Turtle & Hughes has installed solar power systems at our largest facilities. These solar arrays generate a combined amount of 800,000KWH of electricity each year, or approximately 60% of the total consumption at these locations. We are a company of action and are very proud of the steps we have taken to help save the environment.

THIS takes pride in servicing the communities in which we operate. From charity events and fundraisers, to assisting in disaster relief and feeding those in need, THIS employees can be found supporting their local communities.

Along with our parent company, Turtle & Hughes, THIS supports several charity and community-driven events throughout North America. We are happy to provide a list of those local charities and events upon request.
